With a professional education at the “Academy of Economic Studies” in Bucharest and at the prestigious “École Hôtelière de Lausanne”, Lucian Marinescu worked for the “Dorobanți”, “Best Western Parc”, “Ibis Gara de Nord” and “Howard Johnson Grand Plaza” hotels, starting from executive positions and quickly reaching top management positions, before founding his own group of companies providing consultancy, fit-out and equipment services, as well as recruitment and training services for the hotel industry.
Lucian has been involved in the creation, equipping and efficiency of more than fifty hotels and is a member of the board of directors of the hotel company “Intercontinental Romania SA” as well as a member of the board of the “Hotel Industry Federation of Romania”.
Trained at the Academy of Economic Studies at Cornell University and at the Hotelschool The Hague, Călin Ilie has over 25 years of experience in the hotel industry, during which time he has managed numerous establishments with very different business models and has been, among others, general manager of several “IBIS” hotels (Gara de Nord, Constanta, Timișoara). He has been remarkably successful as president of the “Federation of the Romanian Hotel Industry”, vice-president of the “Concordia Employers’ Confederation” and founding member of the “Alliance for Tourism”.
Over the years, Călin has become the most powerful voice in the industry, being the reference interlocutor of the business press and public authorities in Romania or even international organizations, for everything related to tourism and the hotel industry.
